EssentialsX: The Mandatory Plugin for Teleportation and Utilities

If you've played on large Minecraft servers, you're probably used to using commands like /home to return to your base or /tpa to go to a friend. On the official Mojang server, these commands do not exist.

To add these functionalities to your server, the industry-standard plugin is EssentialsX. It adds over 100 useful commands that make gameplay much smoother and more fun.

Prerequisites

Since EssentialsX is a plugin, you need to be running a server that accepts plugins, such as PaperMC.

Step by Step: How to Install

  1. Access the official site: EssentialsX Downloads.
  2. Download the main file named EssentialsX (it is the "core").
  3. (Optional) Also download EssentialsXSpawn if you want the /spawn command.
  4. Place the .jar files in the plugins folder of your server.
  5. Restart the server so that the configuration folders are created.

Commands Your Friends Will Love

Here are the basic commands you should teach your players as soon as you install the plugin:

1. Home System

  • /sethome [name] - Sets the location where you are as your home.
  • /home [name] - Teleports you back to your home instantly.
  • /delhome [name] - Deletes a saved home.

2. Teleportation Between Players

  • /tpa [player] - Sends a request to teleport to a friend.
  • /tpaccept - Accepts someone's teleport request.
  • /tpdeny - Declines the request.

3. Server Utilities

  • /spawn - Returns to the server's starting point (requires the EssentialsXSpawn addon).
  • /msg [player] [message] - Sends a private message.
  • /back - Returns to the location where you died or to the location before the last teleport.

Admin Tip: Defining the Spawn

For the /spawn command to work correctly for everyone, you (as OP) must go to the location you want to be the server's start and type: 

/setspawn

From now on, any new player who joins or anyone who uses the /spawn command will come exactly to this block.
